Yoni and Lingam
Have you ever heard of ‘sacred space’ or Sacred Temple? And do you know what is Wand of Light? In Sanskrit these are female and male genitals – Yoni and Lingam. You can find the symbolic images in Indian temples, they are being worshiped and are a part of religious rituals.
During our trips to India and Tibet we saw the sacred images, where Kali Goddess (the most worshiped Goddess by Tantricas) is pictured with her legs wide open and exposed Yoni. It’s an icon over there being idolised. That kind of pictures and images are being used for home altars. In that kind of attitude we can see the divine simplicity, naturalness and pure chastity of consciousness, which is free from the concept of sin.
And what kind of words do we use when we talk about genitals? Why do we feel awkward when we see them pictured, as if we catch ourselves on something shameful and disgraceful?
I still remember one episode from my childhood. I was 8 years old and my little sister was no more that three year old then. We were visiting our grandmother and it was a sunny Summer day. My sister was running across a lawn in front of my grandmother’s house and laughing joyfully she took off her t-shirt and panties and kept rushing about completely nude. At that very moment her innocent soul 'took away' all the false limitations and surrendered herself to the natural happiness. Our grandmother saw this ‘disgrace’ and ran down my little sister to put the panties back. The little girl broke loose from her grandmothers grip, took off the unnecessary element from her point of view again and ran away. The grandmother ran down my sister a few times until shouted that she ‘brought shame in front of the neighbours’. I can still remember my little sister crying and understand that when we were kids there was someone who this or another way ‘put panties on us’.
As we lack natural and sinless attitude toward our bodies, we became like trees without the roots. We are cut off from what is our vital force, which is our natural source of physical and mental health. The unconscious fear blocks up the organs of the small pelvis resulting in sexual diseases. The depressed sexual energy steams through the negative part of emotional and intellectual centres (please see previous articles) and we can see anger, tears, hysteric, or alternatively we can see cold, hard-hearted person, that doesn’t know how to laugh or cry.
Tantra helps to heal from all deep complexes, accepting yourself and your body in its the innocent beauty. Getting liberated from all the subconscious fears and blocks you can start enjoying sex as never before.
Yoni and Lingam meditations are unique tantric practices helping to connect with your female or male nature and liberate the sexual energy.
